Our aim is to build and strengthen trust and understanding between the United Kingdom and Korea.”

Welcome to our website.

This is a special year for us. We are celebrating the strong relationship between the UK and South Korea with UK/Korea 2017–18 Creative Futures, a season of exhibitions, performances and collaborations across the country from February 2017 to March 2018.

We welcome you to join us at these events. Look out for updates on UK/Korea 2017–18 which will appear on this site regularly.

For over 40 years the British Council has been promoting friendly knowledge and understanding between our two countries. We do this in many ways. Many know us through our six centres in Seoul where you and your children can learn English. Or perhaps you need to assess your language skills with a view to studying abroad. Over 17,000 people take exams in Korea with us each year, and IELTS will enable you to access university education not just in the UK but in the US and elsewhere. If you’re interested in the UK as your study destination Study UK Discover You, our new site on opportunities for study in the UK, is a lively guide to UK education.

Each year we work with our Korean partners in a variety of fields, strengthening the ties between academics, scientists, artists, teachers and social entrepreneurs.  Face to face contact remains at the heart of what we do, even as the world is ever more closely connected through virtual means.  I hope that you too will find ways you can get closer to the UK through participating in or supporting our work.
