British Council Returnee English Programme
Our English for Returnee Programme uses Cambridge English Curriculum materials to support students who have returned from overseas, helping them continue developing the English skills they acquired abroad consistently and with confidence while strengthening their ability to communicate effectively in global settings. Aligned to the national curriculum, designed for fluent speakers, and delivered by expert teachers, students learn, grow, and achieve their goals alongside globally-minded peers in an immersive and supportive English classroom.
About the Cambridge English Curriculum
The Cambridge English curriculum is designed for learners who have English as a first language and is widely used in international schools around the world.
It closely aligns with the English National Curriculum and helps students develop language and thinking skills that meet international standards.
The curriculum promotes balanced development in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, enabling students to understand and produce complex texts and communicate confidently with others.
It also fosters creativity, self-expression, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity.
Through this programme, students will:
- Gain confidence as communicators using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills effectively.
- Develop as readers who enjoy exploring diverse texts across periods and cultures.
- Grow as writers who use language creatively and accurately for different audiences and purposes.
- Strengthen speaking and listening skills to express ideas clearly and collaborate with others.
- Broaden vocabulary and refine grammar knowledge to use English precisely and naturally.
- Learn to analyse spoken and written texts, evaluating meaning, viewpoints, and values.
