Choose IELTS to help you on your way to studying in the USA. IELTS is recognised by more than 3,000 universities and professional bodies in the USA.

You can apply for the IELTS Study USA Scholarship Programme if you live in Korea and are due to begin undergraduate or postgraduate study in the USA in 2013, as long as:

  • your US higher education institution accepts IELTS for admissions
  • you can provide an acceptance letter from the institution by 30 June 2013
  • you have a valid IELTS score

If your US university is not currently listed as accepting IELTS, we recommend that you contact it directly. In some cases institutions have not yet been added to the list.

If this is the case, we will accept an email between you and an admissions officer as proof that your institution accepts IELTS.

You have a valid IELTS score if:

  • you took your IELTS test at the British Council after July 2012
  • you took the IELTS Academic (rather than IELTS General Training)
  • you achieved a minimum band score average of 6.5 for undergraduates or 7.0 for postgraduates

We are holding a special IELTS test session on Saturday 11 May 2013 for scholarship applicants.

You can apply from Monday 1 April – Friday 31 May 2013. Please download the application form from this page, print it and fill it in. When it is complete, address it to “IELTS Scholarships” and send it to us by post.

Only the following supporting documents are required:

  • academic records/transcripts from your current school
  • email from an admissions office to confirm that your US higher education institution accepts IELTS, if it is not currently listed as accepting IELTS (see above)
  • proof of disability (where applicable)

Please do not submit any other documents as we cannot review them.

Please note that your submitted application belongs to in British Council Korea and it may be used for promotion purposes for IELTS.
