Cancelling your IELTS test

If you cancel your IELTS test no less than 7 days before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of the test fee.

Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.

You can request the test cancellation through the registration website. If you booked your seat by visiting British Council in Korea office, please contact us at exams@britishcouncil.or.kr. More details available at here.

If an original medical certificate confirming illness on the date of the test is provided within two days of the test date, the fee minus an administration charge is refundable.

Only original medical certificates in Korean or English are accepted. If we have not received required documents at our office in Seoul by two days after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.

Copies sent by fax or email are not accepted. We recommend sending medical certificates by registered mail. 

Please note that we do not accept sick notes issued by family members.

Transferring your test date

If you need to change the date of your test from the date you originally booked, you can request a test day transfer (postponement only) no less than 7 days before the test date. Please note that the new test date must be within the open dates available on the registration website. In cases of illness, transfer is possible if an original medical certificate is provided within two days of the test date.
